What We Do
The Civic House was founded on the principle that small and rural municipalities need plans, strategies, and reports that are useful to their unique sizes and real-world situations. Instead, it's often the case that they're handed scaled down versions of what the big cities get, completed over the course of months or years, and eating valuable budget while never really resulting in something actionable by staff once the consultants close the project.
To address this, The Civic House provides community planning and strategy services for the communities that need action and decision support today, not another hundred page report and 50 point plan delivered 6 or more months from now.

Logan Bartholow, MPLAN
I've sat in the same chairs as my clients: running planning and development for a town, building economic development strategies and childcare needs assessments, running community engagement, applying for CMHC funding (and getting it), and more. What I've found is that most small municipalities don't often need the expensive long consulting projects that produce a report that staff barely have enough time to read let alone implement. Instead, what they need are cost-transparent, tactical, and right sized approaches that help them make the decisions that matter today. That's exactly what The Civic House delivers.
